ISOLABS – A Conceptual Exploration of Complex Systems Interactions
SOLABS – EMBEDDED S3 (Shamans, Scientists, and Sorcerers) – ANTEPRIMA, an introductory situation set for September 14 from 3 PM to 9 PM somewhere in the northwestern Julian Alps, marks an initiatory event designed to attune participants to the observed and studied landscapes, with a special emphasis on aural experiences. This intimate gathering, free to attend and held at an undisclosed outdoor location, will feature ambient sonics and soundscapes conjured by Jan Jelinek (DE), AGF (FI), Saša Spačal (SI), Primeiro (AR), beepblip (SI) and QOA (AR) with a space design by Tilen Sepič (SI). These auditory experiences, complemented by artisanal tastes from the region, will guide participants through an immersive journey, inviting deeper engagement with the unseen, overlooked, and unknown.
The event is free, but due to limited capacity, registration is required and will be open until capacity is reached. Please register here.
Transport from and to Ljubljana will be provided. The cost of the shuttle service is € 15.00 and can be secured when registering for the event (only tickets paid online in time are guaranteed).
Reservations for the shuttle service are available until places fill up or until Thursday 12 September 2024 (midnight) at the latest.

NiANSA is an interspecies gathering initiative placing a primary focus on fostering collective, deep listening experiences by exploring the symbiosis between soundscape and landscape with primarily focus to create a vibrant interdisciplinary platform where diverse artistic communities converge and participate in spontaneous exchanges, freeform collaborations, sound experiments, live music, and audio-visual experiences. Niansa’s gatherings invite curious individuals to reflect on the interconnectedness of nature and human experience by completely immersing themselves in the sonic environment, thus cultivating a heightened awareness of sound and its profound impact on perception and consciousness.
ISOLABS is conceived as a landscape of forensic investigations of and dialogues with the intricate interplay between art, science, technology, language and the environment, extending from the source to the mouth (delta) of Soča River. In ISOLABS, fieldwork, environmental and remote sensing, mapping, and reflective practices intertwine with local and global communities, probing and reflecting boundaries between disciplines, cultures, subcultures and natural systems. This set of situations are a critical step in our exploration of complex systems that shape our world, blending the precision of scientific inquiry with the expansive possibilities of conceptual art.

Bios
Jan Jelinek (DE) is a transformer of lost and found sounds, who turns rare musical samples and field recordings into distinctly absorbing, complexly textured abstract creations. An artist of collage and processing, he remains on a conceptual quest for sonic interrelation and metamorphosis, navigating through art-house-house to dulcet experimental sound designed narratives which can be heard across a body of work going back more than 20 years. He also operates under the names Farben, Gramm and The Exposures and is the founder of the German record label Faitiche.
Jan JelinekAGF (FI) is an audio sculptress, composer, sound art facilitator, producer & intersectional feminist networker. She published more than 30 long form records, countless mixed media projects and organised sound interventions with others around the globe. She/her weaves deconstructed language, field recordings, low frequencies, disembodied voices, post-club aesthetics, interwoven a-rhythmical patterns into dense sonic feminist technologies.
AGFSaša Spačal MA, a postmedia artist, merges living systems research with contemporary art, emphasising the interconnectedness of the environment-culture continuum within planetary metabolisms. Her artistic endeavours include developing caring biotechnological methodologies and interfaces that engage with both organic and mineral soil agents. In parallel, she explores the fragility of posthuman scenarios, intricately weaving mechanical, digital, and organic logics within the realms of contemporary biopolitics and necropolitics.
Her works were presented at venues such as ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe [DE], Ars Electronica [AT], Centre de Cultura Contemporània Barcelona – CCCB [ES], Laboratoria Art & Science Foundation / New Tretyakov Gallery [RUS], National Art Museum of China [CHN], Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova [SI], Onassis Cultural Centre Athens [GR], Transmediale Festival [DE], GHMP Prague City Gallery [CZ], Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana [SI], Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo [ES], Perm Museum of Contemporary Art [RUS], Chronos Art Centre [CHN], Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb [CRO], Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina [SRB]. She received awards and nominations Ars Electronica Starts Prize [2021], Japan Media Art Award [2020], New Technological Art Award [2019], New Aesthetica Prize [2020], Prix Cube [2015] and Prix Ars Electronica [2015].
Saša Spačalbeepblip (Ida Hiršenfelder, SI) is a sound artist and archivist. She makes immersive bleepy psychogeographical soundscapes with analogue electronics, DIY and modular synths, field recordings and computer manipulations. She is interested in bioacoustics, experimental music and sound spatialisation.
beepblipQOA (AR) works with listening as a tool to tune in with the environment around us and our own being, centering on the materiality of sound as a vibrational existence that occupy, move, and traverse the air around us. They generate expanded listening bodily experiences. Their sound ranges from minimal frequencies, processed field recordings of natural environments, live sampling of acoustic objects such as stones & branches, spoken word, synthesis & rhythmic spectral convolutions, creating an expanded listening experience that invites to immerse oneself in a floating time.
QOAPrimeiro (AR) intricately weaves ethereal tones and floaty arpeggios into a meticulously crafted sonic tapestry. His music is an immersive experience that transcends traditional genres, delving into the realms of ambient and beyond.
PrimeiroTilen Sepič (SI) is a multidisciplinary designer, new media artist and promoter of open source culture. His experience with light is manifesting in light-design objects, IOT design, product photography and sound-light installations. Currently he is developing a practice on research and development of his own products in fields of light design and sound-light installations.
