Bio

Max Wainwright is a nois artist, composer, instrument designer and performer. He makes experimental electronic and acoustic music that involves improvisation, adapting to complex systems, and making and using sounds that at first glance seem useless, maybe even a little creepy. As an artist and performer, he produces solo and collaborative performances, working in the fields of installation, sculpture, radio works, chamber music and video. He explores the interaction between man and technology, the deconstruction of live performance, futility and effort, and performing through inactivity. As an artist, he is interested in states of flux and what useless or broken objects sound like. He makes and performs with sound and instruments and likes to involve the audience in his work.
